Recreational League (Rec-League) Program Details

Welcome to the Rec-League, where young athletes can enjoy the excitement of flag football in a friendly and supportive setting. The Rec-League is designed to promote player development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, making it perfect for players of all skill levels.

Program Overview

The Rec-League provides a balanced and enjoyable flag football experience. Teams are formed to ensure fair competition, with coaches allowed to bring up to four players, including their child. The remaining roster spots will be auto-assigned to create diverse and evenly matched teams.

Note: 6U coaches can bring up to eight participants, including their child and the assistant coach's child, due to the absence of a 6U division in the Pro-League. The remaining players will be randomly assigned.

Key Features

  • Age Groups: Divided into the following categories based on age as of March 2, 2025:

    • 6 and Under (6U)
    • 8 and Under (8U)
    • 10 and Under (10U)
    • 12 and Under (12U)

  • Season Structure: The Rec-League operates on an eight-week schedule:

    • 7 weeks of regular season games: Teams compete weekly, building skills and fostering teamwork.
    • 1 week of playoffs: A single-elimination tournament to determine the league champions.
    • Championship Games: All teams compete for the championship title on the Super Bowl Weekend (Saturday, March 1st and Sunday, March 2nd).

Registration Information

  • Cost: $67.50 per player, including a team jersey and flag belt.
  • Registration Deadline: December 21, 2024.

Equipment Requirements

  • Included: Jersey and flag belt provided with registration.
  • Required: Mouthpieces are mandatory for all players.
  • Recommended: Cleats for better traction and safety, with padded headgear also suggested for extra protection.

Game and Practice Details

  • Game Days: Saturday mornings at the Thibodaux Regional Sports Complex.  (Earliest games will begin at 9am)
  • Practice Locations: Practices are organized in participants' home areas for convenience.  (Houma participants will practice in Houma)
  • Practice Schedule: Coaches will communicate specific practice times and locations once teams are assigned.

Coaching and Team Assignments

  • Background Checks: All coaches undergo background checks and follow strict conduct policies.
  • Team Communication: Coaches will contact parents with practice schedules and distribute jerseys, flags, team balls, and any additional items ordered through Louisiana Flag Football.

League Format and Rules
