Louisiana Flag Football Code of Conduct
At Louisiana Flag Football, we are committed to providing a fun, safe, and competitive environment for all players. By participating in our league, all players, coaches, parents, and spectators agree to adhere to the following Code of Conduct:
For Players
- Respect: Show respect to your teammates, coaches, opponents, referees, and all other participants.
- Sportsmanship: Display good sportsmanship at all times. This includes congratulating opponents after games and avoiding unsportsmanlike behavior, such as taunting or trash-talking.
- Effort and Attitude: Give your best effort in every game and practice. Maintain a positive attitude, win or lose.
- Rules and Safety: Follow the rules of the game, listen to your coaches, and wear required safety equipment, including a mouthpiece. Players are expected to play safely and avoid actions that may cause injury to others.
- Self-Control: Refrain from using inappropriate language, arguing with referees, or engaging in physical altercations. Respect referee decisions, even if you disagree.
For Coaches
- Leadership: Lead by example. Encourage good sportsmanship and respect for all participants, and help foster a positive learning environment.
- Fair Play: Focus on player development and teamwork, rather than winning at all costs. Distribute playing time fairly, and ensure all players have the opportunity to contribute.
- Respect for Officials: Accept referees’ decisions with grace, and avoid disputes or confrontations. Address any issues with referees calmly and through the appropriate league channels.
- Role Model: Be a positive role model for players by demonstrating integrity, respect, and professionalism.
- Player Safety: Prioritize player safety at all times by teaching proper techniques and ensuring players follow safety guidelines.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with players and parents, providing updates on schedules, expectations, and team information.
For Parents and Spectators
- Encouragement: Support all players, coaches, and referees by offering positive encouragement and avoiding negative comments or criticism.
- Sideline Behavior: Refrain from coaching or instructing players during games and practices. Leave the coaching to the team staff.
- Respect for Officials: Respect the decisions of referees and league staff. If you have concerns, address them through the appropriate league channels, not during games.
- Sportsmanship: Be a good example of sportsmanship. Applaud good plays from both teams, and avoid unsportsmanlike conduct such as booing, taunting, or using inappropriate language.
- Game Environment: Help foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where all players feel supported and valued, regardless of their skill level or the outcome of the game.
For All Participants (Players, Coaches, Parents, and Spectators)
- Zero Tolerance for Violence: Any form of physical or verbal aggression, including fighting, threatening behavior, or intimidation, will not be tolerated. Violators will face potential removal from the league.
- Substance-Free Events: All league events, including games and practices, are substance-free. The use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products is prohibited.
- Respect for Facilities: Treat all facilities, equipment, and league property with respect. Ensure all trash is properly disposed of, and refrain from damaging fields or equipment.
- Inclusivity: Respect all participants, regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, religion, or ability. Discrimination or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
Disciplinary Actions
- Any violation of the Louisiana Flag Football Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary actions, including verbal warnings, suspension, or removal from the league. Serious violations, such as physical altercations or repeated offenses, will result in permanent removal from the league.
By participating in Louisiana Flag Football, all players, coaches, parents, and spectators agree to abide by this Code of Conduct to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.
